If your child can swim about 3-5 meters doggy paddle, with no floatation, then the Octopus is the perfect class.

This class is for our intermediate 8 plus year olds who pass out of our beginner Learn to Swim classes or can already swim a little.  A LOT of skills must be mastered to pass out of this class. As an introduction to strokes, the focus is on independence and breath control in the water while extending the swim distance and developing the coordination to gain independent breaths while swimming. This is followed by proper breath control techniques as these students move into building endurance. The technical breakdown of the freestyle stroke also begins at this level.

Prerequisite: Swim 3-5 meters Doggy Paddle with no floatation
Final Goal: Swim 10 meters with no floatation, face in the water for a 10 count, comfortable rolling to a back-float and can swim basic Freestyle and Backstroke.

In this class we transition the unilateral side breathing learned in the Octopus Class into the traditional freestyle stroke, which is bilateral side breathing (to both sides). In addition to refining freestyle technique, our coaches continue to build the endurance of their students. Also, the elementary backstroke is taught from start to finish in this level. This stroke is a safety stroke rather than a competitive stroke, but is essential if ever faced with an open water situation.

Prerequisite: Swim 10 meters with no floatation, face in the water for a 10 count, comfortable rolling to a back-float and can swim basic Freestyle and Backstroke.
Final Goal: Swim at least 20 meters Freestyle taking side breaths and Backstroke, swim elementary Breaststroke and Butterfly.

This class extends the swim distance to laps of the entire length of the pool. Freestyle endurance is built as students learn to maintain their stroke technique as they tire. The breaststroke and butterfly are introduced and taught from start to finish in this level. Though back kicks have been introduced in previous levels, backstroke arms are taught. In addition to stroke technique, freestyle and breaststroke starts and turns and speed techniques are introduced. Stroke technique and endurance is emphasised as the students begin medley swims involving all four strokes.

Prerequisite: Swim at least 20 meters Freestyle taking side breaths and Backstroke, swim elementary Breaststroke and Butterfly.
Final Goal: Bilateral breathing freestyle and Backstroke for at least 100 meters; bent arm recovery; streamline into freestyle; and swim Breaststroke for at least 100 meters and Butterfly for 50 meters.

As our most advanced level, here we work on the mastery of all four competitive strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Lung capacity and muscle strength are increased as these students combine consistent laps of swimming all four strokes. We utilize drills similar to swim team workouts to increase correct stroke techniques and endurance. Starts, turns, speed techniques, and endurance are the focus of this level.

Prerequisite: Bilateral breathing freestyle and Backstroke for at least 100 meters; bent arm recovery; streamline into freestyle; and swim Breaststroke for at least 100 meters and Butterfly for 50 meters.
Final Goal:
Swim Freestyle for 1 Km, Backstroke for 200 meters, Butterfly 100 meters; Mastery of Breaststroke including kick, arms & timing for 100 meters; swim all four competitive strokes with proper starts, turns, technique and endurance; swim 200 meters Individual Medley.

These fitness classes are perfect for your child to keep their swimming fitness up, whether it be for competitive swimming, or just to keep fit.

Swimming fitness also helps with running fitness which goes hand in hand with most other sports. Both of these classes will also prepare your child for school galas where necessary.

To swim in the Senior Fitness Class your child must be able to swim 1km freestyle (40 lengths of a 25 metre school pool), 100 meters Individual Medley (25 meters Butterfly, 25 meters Backstroke, 25 meters Breaststroke and 25 meters Freestyle.

Your child needs to be able to swim all 4 strokes. This is a 30/45 min. fitness class. Our objective of this class leans more towards fitness than strokes, although strokes will be touched on where necessary.

To swim in the Junior Fitness Class your child should be able to swim 600-800 meters freestyle (24-32 lengths of a 25 metre school pool). Your child should be reasonably proficient in all the strokes. The objective of the class is fitness and strokes. This is also a 30/45 minute class.

Automatic Bookings for Next Term

Offering automatic bookings of classes for the next term can be highly beneficial for parents and children. Here are some of the advantages for you:
Convenience:
By offering automatic bookings, parents don’t have to worry about manually booking their child’s class each term. This can save time and make the process more convenient, especially for busy parents.
Consistency:
With automatic bookings, parents can ensure that their child has the same class at the same day and time each week. This can be highly beneficial for children, as they can get used to the routine and structure of attending the same class each week. Consistency is essential in learning any skill, and attending the same class regularly can help children build on their skills and progress faster.
Familiarity:
Children can become attached to their swim instructor, and attending the same class each week with the same instructor can help build a rapport and trust between them. It can be challenging for children to adjust to a new class and instructor every term, which can impact their motivation and progress.
Avoiding the hassle of finding a new class:
Finding a new class each term can be a hassle for parents, as they have to search for available classes that fit their schedule and their child’s needs. Offering automatic bookings can alleviate this stress and ensure that parents don’t have to keep searching for a new class each term.
In summary, offering automatic bookings for classes can provide convenience, consistency, familiarity, and peace of mind for parents and children. It can help children progress faster, build trust with their instructor, and avoid the hassle of finding a new class each term.
