Gentle water introduction for babies aged 6-24 months

Water Safety Skills Parent-Child Bonding No Pressure Fun

Introducing Your Baby to the Water

At Easy2Swim, our Mom or Dad & Me Baby Swim Program is designed to gently introduce babies (ages 6 months to 24 months) to water, helping them develop confidence, essential water safety skills, and a love for swimming in a fun and supportive environment.

We understand that some parents may wonder if this playtime in the water is truly beneficial for their baby's long-term swimming ability. Stick with the program for at least one term, and you'll be amazed at how quickly your child starts picking up aquatic skills, setting the foundation for independent swimming. You and your little one are about to embark on a wonderful journey of discovery that will last a lifetime.

Flexible Age Guidelines

Our age groups are used as a guideline and are flexible based on each child's progress and comfort level. Our experienced swim teachers may recommend moving to a different class that is better suited to your child's needs.

Why Start Early?

Starting water familiarisation early provides lifelong benefits for your child's safety and confidence

Early Water Comfort

Helps babies feel at ease in the water from an early age, building lifelong confidence and eliminating fear of water.

Vital Safety Skills

Teaches key survival skills like floating, holding onto the pool edge, and breath control that could save lives.

Stronger Transition

Babies who participate transition much more easily to proper swim lessons at age 2 compared to children starting without these foundations.

Parent-Child Bonding

A wonderful shared experience that builds confidence and trust between parent and child through play and learning.

Developmental Milestones

Each class follows the same format, gradually working through essential water skills tailored to your baby's age and abilities:

Gentle Water Entry

Safe, comfortable techniques for entering the pool

Blowing Bubbles

Fun water play to develop breath control

Floating Practice

Back and front floating with parent assistance

Pool Edge Safety

Holding onto edges and safe pool exits

Submersion Skills

Gradual underwater introduction based on comfort

Kicking & Paddling

Basic swimming motions and movements

Songs & Games

Fun activities to encourage engagement

Water Confidence

Building comfort through positive experiences

Remember: Every baby progresses at their own pace. Our experienced instructors adapt activities to match your child's comfort level and readiness.

Commitment & Progression

While this program focuses on fun and comfort, it also builds real skills. Babies who continue through at least one full term will often make significant progress, with many comfortably going underwater and starting to hold onto the side independently.

Critical Transition Advantage

This program significantly eases the transition to structured swim lessons at age 2. A child who has gone through the Mom & Me program typically adapts far better than a child who starts swimming lessons without this critical early orientation.

Your Baby's Swimming Journey

1

Month 1: Building Trust

Getting comfortable with water, splashing, and basic movements with parent support

2-3

Months 2-3: Skill Development

Starting to blow bubbles, brief face submersions, and confident floating with assistance

End of First Term: Ready for Next Level

Comfortable underwater, holding pool edge independently, ready for structured lessons at age 2

What Parents Should Bring

Swimwear for Parent & Baby

Comfortable swimwear for both parent and baby to enjoy the water together

Towel & Dry Clothes

For warming up quickly after the session - bring warm clothes for cooler days

Water Bottle

Stay hydrated - swimming is exercise for both parent and baby!

A Positive Attitude

This is a relaxed, no-pressure class! Your calm energy helps your baby feel safe and confident.

Swim Nappy Required

Reusable swim nappy

If your child is not potty trained or if there is any chance of an accident, they must wear a permanent, reusable swim nappy.

This helps maintain a clean and safe swimming environment for all participants.
