What are the entry requirements?

To enrol, you must:

  • Be 16+ years old by assessment date
  • Swim 200m continuously with reasonable technique
  • Be comfortable in deep water (tread water, surface dive)
  • Have or obtain First Aid/CPR certification (can do during course)
  • Obtain police clearance certificate (we guide you through this)

No previous teaching experience needed.

How much does it cost and can I pay in instalments?

Course fee: R3,450 (includes everything: registration, online theory, 5-day practical, assessment, certification)

Payment options:

  • Pay in full: R3,450
  • Payment plan: 50% deposit (R1,725), balance 2 weeks before course
  • Youth bursaries (18-28 years, unemployed): Up to 30% discount available

Bundle offer: Add Lifesaving course (First Aid/CPR) for R1,550 extra (save R175)

Do I need First Aid before starting the course?

You need First Aid/CPR to complete your qualification, but not to start the course.

Options:

  • Already certified? Bring your current certificate (must be valid)
  • Need certification? Complete our 1-day STA International Lifesaving course (R1,725) before or during your training

Bundle deal: Book both courses together for R5,000 (save R175)

What if I fail the assessment?

Our pass rate is 95%+ – almost everyone who completes the full course passes first time.

If you need more practice:

  • We provide additional teaching practice sessions
  • You can re-sit the practical assessment (reassessment fee: R500)
  • We continue supporting you until you pass

Can I do this part-time if I have a job?

The course structure:

  • Online theory: Self-paced, complete in your own time (2-3 weeks)
  • Practical training: 5 consecutive days (typically Mon-Fri, 08:00-16:00)

You'd need to take 5 days leave for the practical course.

After qualifying: Swimming teaching is perfect for part-time work – teach mornings/evenings around your job (peak lesson times are before/after work hours).
